The Different Types of Keywords
Not all keywords are the same. They don’t only differ in length but they also differ in purpose, and if you want to make sure that you have given your website the best possible chance to rank in the positions that you want it to, it is important to know as much as possible about the various keywords that Google likes to see.
Every second of every day, Google experiences around 40Â 000 searches. For businesses of any kind, it is so important to know how to use the right types of keywords and which SEO Package would be best to get onto the first page of the search results so that you can be in the best position to drive sales to your company.
Search engines will no doubt continue to play a huge role in the growth of businesses, and since SEO is an organic and relatively inexpensive way to market your business, a well-thought-out SEO strategy complete with the right kinds of keywords is the way forward.

Which keywords should you use to maximise your SEO?
Every approach to SEO should follow the same sort of pattern.
The site needs to be optimised using the right keywords for the focus industry, and these keywords need to be well researched and carefully placed within both the content and the site itself.
Different types of keywords are used to target different types of audiences. The way that you use the various keywords is what will determine the range of people that you will reach as well as increase your chances of grabbing the customer’s attention.
The exact number of keywords you can use differ depending on who you talk to. Some in the industry say that there are 19 different types, others say there are just 9.
At our SEO company, we say, the number of varieties is not what matters.
What is important to know is which keywords are more beneficial than the others and which will suit your campaign.
The Types of Keywords you need to know about
The Short Tail Keyword
This is the SEO staple keyword. It is the type that each and every website has and as such it is the most popular and perhaps even the most important kind of keyword you will have at your disposal.
The short tail keyword is usually comprised of only 2 to 3 words, and these keywords can be hugely competitive.
Short tail keywords are the most used by search engine users, as these keywords often become the first step in the entire online research process.
The problem with short tail keywords is that they don’t always convert well, because they don’t include the searcher intent.
The Long Tail Keyword

The long tail keyword is any keyword that is longer than 3 words and as such these keywords are a lot more specific.
These keywords often have a lower search volume, which makes them less competitive but they are also often a lot more effective because they can include the intent.
And because these keywords are so specific, the conversion rate can be a lot higher as those using the search term already know exactly what they are looking for.
The Short Term Fresh Keyword
Anything that is currently in fashion and on-trend is called a short-term fresh keyword. These sets of keywords are not often used in evergreen content, but rather form the focus of blogs.
To determine whether or not the keyword you are considering is a short-term fresh keyword, you will need to look at Google Keyword Planner to see if the keyword is peaking. While at the moment the keyword is going to drive traffic to your site, you need to prepare yourself for the letdown once the hype is over.

The Long Term Evergreen Keyword
These are the golden keywords that should be included in the website content. The long-term evergreen keyword is always relevant and always popular which means that while the search volume might ebb and flow, the fluctuations are never so extreme that they will have a drastic effect on your website traffic.
These sorts of keywords will be able to bring you consistent visitors and can really help you to establish yourself as an authority in your field.
The Product Keyword
Any keywords directly related to the product will be highly specific and they will usually be the type of
keyword that is used during the early stages of the customer’s online research.
These keywords will be used in the product descriptions and they can be the very thing that encourages people to buy what it is that you are selling.
The devil is definitely in the detail when it comes to using these keywords effectively.
The Geo-Targeting Keyword
Location is so important in the SEO world, especially so if you are aiming to effectively launch your local SEO campaign. Even though you might be including the location of your business or your sales area in other places on your website, adding it to your content will help you to grab a top spot when customers search for your product and use the term “near me”, while it will also be helpful if your customers are searching for the product in a specific location, i.e. their neighbourhood.
